Homes for Children

We run seven small children's homes in Gdańsk, Gdynia and Rumia, guaranteeing safety, specialist support and preparation for independent adult life to 94 children.

The main goal of these facilities is to provide round-the-clock care and upbringing, as well as to meet the basic needs and provide specialist assistance and support to children and young people who are permanently or temporarily deprived of parental care. GFIS is a leader in changing the system of care for children deprived of parental care in the Tri-City area.

We participated in the transformation of the system of care for children deprived of parental care in Pomerania, engaging in the modernisation of institutional children's homes. Drawing on the experience of the Nasz Dom Society, we developed standards for individual work with children and their families based on small, intimate children's homes.

Children and young people in difficult life situations need special, individual support. A Children's Home is a home. It is a home with an individual and unique character, where children and young people deprived of parental care and attention live. A Children's Home is created with the aim of raising its residents to live independently. The basis of our educational work is respect for the individuality of each resident and an individual approach to each of them.

At GFIS Children's Homes, we have created safe and warm places that are an alternative to institutional children's homes. Fourteen children live in each home. Our pupils learn life skills – they take care of the house, prepare meals and manage the household budget. We focus on preparing them for adult, independent life. We support them in their education and in acquiring the qualifications and skills necessary for the labour market.
