Humanitarian aid

Our Foundation has extensive experience in supporting refugees and people with migration experience in the local community. Over the years, the Foundation's activities have focused on supporting and integrating these people through various programmes and initiatives.

In 2014, GFIS, in cooperation with the City of Gdańsk, educational institutions and the Centre for Support and Integration of Immigrants (CWII), implemented a programme to support and integrate refugees from Chechnya. In 2015-2016, the Foundation actively participated in the development of the Immigrant Integration Model in Gdańsk. From 2018 to 2024, GFIS was a member of the working group for the support of the Roma community at the City Hall in Gdańsk.

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, GFIS has been working to support and integrate refugees from Ukraine in Gdańsk. A comprehensive humanitarian programme, implemented by the Foundation in cooperation with the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Province, the City Hall in Gdańsk and organisations such as Mercy Corps and foreign partners (Shell, FCDO, American Red Cross), has provided humanitarian support – cash, in-kind and social – to over 2,000 refugees from Pomerania.

GFIS implements a project unique in Poland to activate senior citizens in the refugee community as part of the Intercultural Senior Club. The Foundation's experience and commitment to helping migrants guarantee effective assistance and support for people who find themselves in difficult life situations.
