Seniors

The ‘Gościnna Przystań’ Neighbourhood Centre actively supports senior citizens in the Orunia district by developing and cooperating with Senior Clubs, strengthening senior leaders and implementing social support and material assistance programmes (over 400 people supported). We focus on strengthening self-government and grassroots activity, with an emphasis on an intercultural and intergenerational approach. The Neighbourhood House runs six groups/clubs run by and for seniors. Sports, educational and health programmes are organised to meet the diverse needs of the senior community (over 100 participants), including the Intercultural Senior Club, which involves refugees. The Neighbourhood House also facilitates a unique Senior Agreement group, which involves leaders of all Senior Clubs in the district, promoting cooperation and exchange of experiences. In cooperation with the Gdańsk Foundation and the Municipal Family Assistance Centre (MOPR) in Gdańsk, we run a community support programme using ‘Teleopieka’ electronic assistance bracelets for 20 people. This innovative system enables seniors to quickly access help in emergency situations, increasing their sense of security and comfort of life. In partnership, we are creating a space where seniors can actively participate in community life, pursue their passions and feel safe.
