The SPOT ‘Północ’ day care centre provides care and education for children and young people aged 6-18.
Its particular aim is to support families from the Oksywie district of Gdynia who are experiencing difficulties in fulfilling their care and educational responsibilities, or who are at risk of or affected by alcohol abuse.
The centre is constantly recruiting for two groups: Junior (max. 23 children aged 6-12) and Youth SPOT (max. 15 children aged 12-18). Classes are held 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) in the afternoon. Most often, children come straight after school and are first provided with help with homework or practising school skills on worksheets. Every day, they receive a small meal and take part in a variety of activities: art, sports, multimedia, cooking and community activities. At this place, it is important not only to work individually with the child, but also with the family. Therefore, once a month, family reintegration is organised – joint activities for children and their parents to improve parenting skills. The facility employs two teachers for the younger group, one teacher for the SPOT youth group and a street worker who runs outdoor activities for children from outside the facility.
