Support at the start – levelling educational and social opportunities

‘Support at the start – equalising educational and social opportunities for children from GFIS Children's Homes’ – a project worth PLN 1,000,000, implemented between 1 January 2010 and 31 August 2011 under Sub-measure 7.2.1 of the Human Capital Operational Programme

This project was a milestone in the Foundation's efforts to improve the conditions and methods of educational work in GFIS Children's Homes. The project enabled the launch of a pilot programme for the independence of children from care and educational institutions. As part of the project, a training flat was set up for four pupils who, with the support of independence coaches, acquired skills necessary to navigate the labour market, preceded by learning skills necessary for everyday life, such as cooking, cleaning, managing a household budget, etc. In addition, we continued educational support in the form of tutoring aimed at catching up on schoolwork and developing passions and interests through individual and group holiday trips and the opportunity to take advantage of cultural and sports activities. A significant element of the project was the work with the children's biological families carried out by Family Assistants.

The project was co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund.
