With Nice Hand - Houses for Children
Our Foundation is a leader in transforming the child welfare system for children without parental care in the Tri-City area.
Drawing on the experience of the Nasz Dom Association, we have developed standards for individualized work with children and their families, based on small-scale, family-like Children's Homes. Children and young people in difficult life situations need special, personalized support.
We run six small Children's Homes in Gdańsk and Gdynia. A Children’s Home is a real home — a place with an individual and unique character, where children and youth who lack parental care and support live. Each home is designed to help its residents grow into independent adulthood. Our educational approach is grounded in respect for each child’s individuality and personhood.
In GFIS Children’s Homes, we have created safe and warm environments that serve as alternatives to institutional orphanages. Each of our homes houses fourteen children. Our residents learn essential life skills — managing household chores, preparing meals, and budgeting. We focus on preparing them for independent adult life. We support their education and help them gain the qualifications and competencies needed in today’s job market.
